Saugus Federal Credit Union takes your identity seriously. That’s why we’re proactive in educating our members about fraud, how to avoid it, and what to do if they’re a victim of identity theft, Internet or mail fraud.

Identity theft is serious. While some identity theft victims can resolve their problems quickly, others spend hundreds of dollars and many days repairing damage to their good name and credit record. Once your identity is stolen the information can be use to commit various types of fraud.

What types of personal data are thieves looking to steal?

  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Bank/Credit Union Accounts
  • Credit, Debit and ATM Card Numbers and PINs

HOW DO IDENTITY THIEVES GET MY
PERSONAL INFORMATION?

  • Stealing mail, including bank and credit card statements, credit card offers, new checks and tax information;
  • “Dumpster Diving” — rummaging through your trash, the trash of a business, or public trash dumps;
  • Stealing your wallet or purse when left unattended;
